I don’t need to be “saved” . . . I was never lost. I was not born a sinner. Dogma is for people who need structure and someone to teach them right from wrong.  We don’t need to be taught right from wrong.  We are made in the image and likeness of God.  We have the potential for Wholeness and are responsible for our choices, actions, experiences and the results they create. 

Jesus’s teachings are very relevant and useful for the 21^st Century, as are the teachings of many other Divinely inspired men and women.  Jesus was the great example not the great exception.
 

     There is no devil.  God is all there is in the Universe. There is only One Power and that is God.  God is Intelligence, Energy, Love, Abundance, and the Creative source back of all things.  Each human being is a creation of God, made in Its image and likeness, with the choice of how to use universal principles.  Evil is a result of man’s misuse of these principles, and not sourced by a separate power.

     God is not human, and has no gender or limiting human emotion such as anger, wrath, vengefulness, or jealousy.  God does not ever deny us or punish us but has provided the Law of Cause and Effect that says that whatever we believe, we create.  We experience the consequences of this freedom of choice, never punishment by God.

     The “Word” of God is the great Causative Power of the Universe. God is eternally initiating the Divine Creative Process.  Since the human spirit is One with Universal Spirit, our thought is creative and we re-enact in microcosm the Divine Creative Process in our lives.
 

     Our daily practice is to discover God within us and to reveal more of our true spiritual nature and potential.  People of all religions attend our church and are welcome to become members or not.  We are ready to greet you if you are ready to step onto a new and fulfilling spiritual path that fulfills human needs in the 21st century.  We are a New Thought church with Transcendentalist relatives such as Emerson, Whitman and Troward.
 

     We do not teach you what to think. We support independent, positive, life-giving, affirmative thinking as the approach to even the most difficult of life situations. We are not a cult devoted to or obsessed with a person or principle. We do not worship a leader or a book, nor do we look to UFO’s, crystals, tarot cards or even Jesus to save us. We deplore judgment and prejudice toward any people no matter what their race, religion or sexual orientation.

     We do not proselytize, evangelize or attempt to convert anyone.

     We are not the same as Christian Science and we have no association with Scientology.  We are not a “New Age” church.
 

     Our church, Namasté Science of Mind and Spirit Center is a new addition to United Church of Religious Science and serves Long Beach and surrounding communities.

     Religious Science was founded in 1927 by Dr. Ernest Holmes. Hundreds of our churches can be found across America, Europe, Australia, Russia and Africa.

     Our Senior Minister, Reverend Kristin Hawkins, brings a natural curiosity and joy to the process of discovery. She believes that “the process of discovery is an expression of the Life Energy we are, simply being exuberant about Itself. When we rekindle our natural sense of discovery and awe, we are rejuvenated. What greater discovery than the recognition of Spirit as us!”

     Reverend Kristin’s focus has always been on creating an atmosphere where growth and change come naturally by awakening our own desires, expectations, and innate wisdom. Her speaking style is very conversational and people naturally feel at ease and connected with her. She is a dynamic speaker, gifted teacher, and compassionate counselor.
 

     Our 10:00 a.m. Sunday Spiritual Gathering celebrates the unique Divine Expressions we are and supports us in experiencing the Grandest Divine Idea of ourselves and of each other.  Our minister presents a positive, practical and uplifting message supported by the inspiring music of our professional singers and musicians.

     We teach classes in how to use the power of our thought, affirmative prayer (as apposed to begging-beseeching prayer), and meditation techniques. We produce workshops, seminars and classes in all areas of life with topics on Relationships, Creative Potential, Prosperity, and Self-Esteem to name a few.

     Our Ministry of Prayer is staffed with ministers and licensed professional practitioners who offer prayer and spiritual counseling.  Special holiday programs, services and activities are provided for the entire family.
